Real Stories

The Child Behind Every Meal

Each donation is a real child — with a name, a classroom, and a future that hunger was quietly stealing.

BEFORE

Meera, Age 6

Meera walked 2 km to school every morning — tiffin box empty, stomach growling. By third period she'd drift to the back of the class. Not because she wasn't smart. Because hunger doesn't let you think.

"The moment the khichdi reached her — steam rising, the smell of ghee — she held her plate with both hands like it was something precious."

Today Meera sits in the front row. Last week she raised her hand first. Her teacher says she asks the best questions.

₹1,500 feeds 50 children like Meera for a day
🍚
THE RIPPLE EFFECT
One meal → concentration → participation → grades → a future she couldn't have imagined on an empty stomach.
BEFORE

Arjun, Age 8

Arjun used to skip school on the days his father didn't find work. No work meant no food. So what was the point of going? He'd sit outside the school gate, watching other kids go in.

"He lined up quietly, waited his turn, and ate every grain of rice. Then he went back to ask if there was more. There was."

Arjun hasn't missed a day since the Annadaan program started. He tells his friends: "School has food now. We should go."

₹3,000 feeds 100 children like Arjun for a day
📚
THE RIPPLE EFFECT
One guaranteed meal removed the one reason he had to stay home. Attendance became a habit. Learning followed.
BEFORE

Priya, Age 7

Priya's mother worked double shifts. Breakfast was whatever was left from the night before — or nothing. Priya had learned not to mention hunger at home. She thought it was her fault somehow.

"The dal was warm. She took one spoonful and looked around to make sure it was real — that she wasn't going to be asked to give it back."

Priya drew a picture of a plate of food for her school art project. She titled it: "The best part of my day."

₹6,000 feeds 200 children like Priya for a day

THE RIPPLE EFFECT
Dignity restored. A child who stopped hiding her hunger started expressing her imagination. That's what a meal does.
